a week or so ago him calling me weak i let it goSame here.
I did not take the post of Gary's any different than any of the other posts here, from anyone else.
One of the highlights of our early winter is watching all the Air Force and Army folks in their badass 4x4 rigs with their monster mudder tires trying to drive on snow and ice for the first time after being stationed up here the previous summerWhatever for? I assume emergency use only. I can drive in snow fine, you wont catch me on the roads with the southern menace's with snow on the ground.

You chose these words very carefully didn’t you? Something like “you can see in the top pic where it crushed from jacking it” would’ve caught some attention.^^^^^ Yeah, whut he said.... patina.

Anyways... rear suspension is out of the grandpa Buick. It was very... patina'd. You can see in the top pic where it crushed when I started lifting it with the floor jack.
We did inner races on 6" corrugator roll journals with .006" undersize on the races. They figured .001" per inch of shaft diameter, so your numbers sound right. Ours were heated in an oil bath to 600'F, you only had one shot and the journal was 27" long and stepped. Out of the 6 races we did, only had to cut one off and retry with a new one. Then we cleaned as the Dupont Crytox grease could not get any contamination from the oil.Evening pre and post- menopausal bishes.
Got to have a little fun today and sweat some couplings on for a shutdown job we are doing over Christmas.
150 HP hoist motor with brake and dual encoders(for position/over-run control).
The gearbox is a 1:1 power divider that feeds two right angle planetary gearboxes that drive the dual hoist drums on a 150 ton hoist. Its a ring-and-pinion gearbox.
Couplings are .002" interference fit. Thats all that holds them in place, but better than compression couplings etc if done right. That means the hubs are .002" smaller than the shafts they are to be mounted on.
Use dry ice to cool and shrink the shafts, and heat the hubs on an induction heater to around 325°F. Slide right on there.
This is one case where a BFH does you no good.
Have to use science and maffs n stuffs.

Finished for now he will be back spring time for the field and grub the spot where I’m haulin my house to. Real happy about what’s been done. Now I have a road to my logs and will start selling those.
Love the induction heater Brent. Fast, efficient. and no flame. We use them alot in our trade too. Best thing since sliced bread. Thx for posting blue collar Georgia man. Not too offensive was it??Evening pre and post- menopausal bishes.

Just went by the OEM specs. We did inner races on 6" corrugator roll journals with .006" undersize on the races. They figured .001" per inch of shaft diameter, so your numbers sound right. I don't miss corrugators.
LOL! Sure beats a Rosebud Tim.Love the induction heater Brent. Fast, efficient. and no flame. We use them alot in our trade too. Best thing since sliced bread. Thx for posting blue collar Georgia man. Not too offensive was it??
Here's an old man trick if you don't have liquid nitrogen. Go to Walmart and buy all the isopropyl alcohol you can carry. Add it to the dry ice and it will get colder.Just went by the OEM specs.
The gearbox couplings are metric. 75mm with N7? Fit spec.
Thankfully, this customer has a 72 year old machinist that does their critical work. He is top notch. Dont know what they will do when he goes home.
Found that the dry ice helps a lot. Had a lot of folks talk against it, but to me its simply math. If cooling the shaft buys you another .001", then the temperature difference is a moot point. Actually helps keep the sleeves and their o rings from getting too hot before I can get some wet rags going to bring the temp down slowly.
Someone will be offended regardless. Not too offensive was it??
Actually, they don't.
Did I though? Pretty sure I said Dave is no Dall. I could just have easily be condemning Dave for not following his rehab instructions. Language is a tricky thing.a week or so ago him calling me weak i let it go
then this morning i was done being nice
and if anyone has a problem with it bring it on
and if you dont have a thing to do with it then you may get something you dont want
Piss off. What's that supposed to mean?
"Regardless"?
Like we have no option to be offended???
Oh, I see what your saying... lol
