I think it is interesting that everyone used to do 3 tab, now everyone does the dimensional/architectural ones and you hardly ever see 3 tab.
Here it’s the sheet metal roofing now, often don’t even tear off old shingles just mail strapping down and screw the metal down. But if any thing else is to be used it’s still 3 tab here
From what I was told by a local contractor, is that architectural shingles hide the roofs imperfections a lot better, thus making the roof look nicer overall. Nothing wrong with 3 tab, they just show where the plywood doesn’t match at the seams, etc.. Most shingles in our area are architectural also..

So that is what the metal roofing I’m describing is called architectural shingles?

No, architectural shingles are shingles with 4-5 tabs, and the tabs are not cut square, but rather they are angled. So the illusion from all the different angles makes everything look more even.

The metal roofs are nice and they last a lifetime but they are expensive and I still think asphalt shingles look nicer. For what a metal roof costs, you can probably pay for 2 shingle roofs which would last around 60 years.

lol ill trade you pains
if i lay on my right side my chest hurts so i dont sleep well
and i toss and turn alot anyways
i dont go to bed with the chickens
it was 12:30 last night
Last night I was awake till about 11. After roofing on that flattish pitch, my knee was hurting like hell. But....once I was out, I slept well.

The problem I have with metal roofing is the screws. Every screw hole is a potential leak should the rubber washer fail. On a house, standing seam is the only metal roof I'd recommend.

9c / 54f headed to 24c/75f. One last nice day before the rains come in, 7 days straight in the forecast.

Day 8 we’re hosting the family for Thanksgiving and a yard party. Yard is going to be one hell of a mess
A deck party might be a better idea after that much rain.
