Rust spot on the hood and some paint peeling on the door but it's solid underneath.
A/C doesn't work and could use some tires.

I know all about that switch and the internet and media fueled panic behind it.
I replaced a ton of those under the recall.
In all my years I saw 1 actual failure and the car wouldn't start.
The biggest issue is the angle of the cylinder compounded by people having 874 things hanging on their keychain...

My Harley is like that, can't hang as much as a ring on it, bare key only. First time it went a lord of the Harley cut the molded in wires and spliced it in with crimp connectors. Second time it went a real bike mechanic tore the entire bike apart and re-soldered in the new wires to the harness at all the different points. Vibration and crimp connectors don't mix well he said.

My daughter cried while I was teaching her to drive a stick, that whole starting on a hill thing. She looks back now and is glad we went through it. I guarantee her future kids will be required to learn too. She will make sure of that. She joking calls a manual transmission an anti theft device. LOL

I was tried to teach a girls I was dating how to drive standard as there was a car at a dealership she wanted to buy. I "test drove" a different one from a different dealer and spent a couple evenings practicing, not even any hills here to worry about. I returned the test drive and then she called to tell me she had bought a different car than the one she originally wanted... an automatic.

On todays episode of Fun wif cranes, stay tuned as I try to remove this lower hook retaining pin and nut to replace the thrust(swivel) bearing beneath it.
This is attempt #2. The first hook retainer pin came out with some lovin, but the nut was rusted tight. I'm not expecting this one to go much better.

I'll have to order new keeper nuts and probably use the "blue wrench" to get the old ones off.
BTW, this usually works more gooder when it hasn't been outside getting rained on for 15 years.

Rust won that round.
Wasnt going to get the torch out and risk damaging the wire ropes.
Will order the extra parts, and change that when we replace the wire ropes.
Should be in a couple of months.
