It seems to me that oftentimes a simple apology doesn't work because the offended person has just pulled up stakes and left

Maybe they are lurking, waiting for an apology, or a change in the tone of the thread, or whatever and if they see that they might come back

If someone thinks they need an apology then I guess they should state their case and see if the other feller can be the bigger man

This brings me back to my earlier statement that I really don't want to have to stop and think, and analyze every little thing I fire off from the hip

I can be a snarky *a-hole at times, but it is generally in search of a laugh, not hoping to demean or diminish someone

In my mind we just came out of a very dark 4 years that almost saw this great nation reduced to a state of thought and speech police that centered on a tiny fraction of the population

When the people that I believe would right this wrong were elected by a majority of this country I was, and am, overjoyed

I stated as much for the first couple of days after the election because I had been holding my breath that we would lose, and our fates were sealed

I think of the folks on here as rugged, chainsaw toting, hard working, boot wearing, individuals that are concerned about life, liberty, feeding their families, and speaking their minds

I don't think of them in terms of Right, Left, Republican, Democrat, etc, just people who would rather have a strong and free America where we don't have to bow down to "Identity Politics"

If I was wrong about that then I am in the wrong place

If speaking my mind means offending and alienating a large proportion of the folks here than I am in the wrong place

If the majority wants a sanitized version of the NSP rough and tumble banter and buffoonery then I will gladly close my account and leave the thread and the forum to the majority

I never intentionally mean to hurt anyone nor do I intend to single anyone out unless we are in the middle of a round of what I always thought was good natured ribbing and ripping on a topic

I am more likely to make fun of myself than make fun of another person

As several have pointed out, nobody is held here against their will nor do they have to participate

Just let me know if this is going to continue to be the rough and tumble, no holds barred, rip em and get ripped funfest it was meant to me or if we are going down snowflake lane

I will respect the will of the majority and base my actions accordingly

You are such an a55hole. You stole what I was going to say. If someone can point to something I said that requires an apology, let me know, and I will. I can think of nothing I have said, that was less than truthful. I will never apologize for telling the truth, I feel all here feel the same way. I have never said anything with the intention of hurting anyone. I grew up in an age where your parents told you, "sticks and stones may break your bones, but names will never hurt you!". We were also told to be home when the streetlights came on. We were taught to always look someone in the eye when talking to them. Be courteous, and always tell the truth.

I like all y'all, even Dallas! As far as politics, when the last administration was elected, it wasn't what I wanted. So I shrugged and got back to life. This past election did go the way I wanted. So I am shrugging and going back to my life, with more hope for future generations. The losing party had no platform except not being the guy that won. No vision, and continuing the same failed policies. The prices of everything went up, and anyone that believes 4 more years of the same policies would have made anything different than prices continuing to go up. Is not using their grey matter. The definition of insanity, is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I want us all to have an opportunity to be successful, so let's see if trying something different helps, because we know doing he same thing won't.

Maybe thing will get worse, maybe they will get better. Let's wait and see. As I said before, I will admit I am wrong if I am wrong. We are all wanting the same thing. To live our lives and raise our families, be good neighbors, and help others when we can. Those are the people I want to hang out with. You guys!

So it kinda seems to me like this thread has/had a bit of a hurt feelings problem rather than an actual politics problem.

I tend to agree with the sentiment that it is retarded to get bent about that sort of thing. The people that are being discussed don’t give a good Goddamn about us common peons. Actually I take that back. I don’t think I’ve ever seen actual retards arguing about politics.

I’m of the further opinion that the group here does a pretty good job of self moderation. Folks you cannot control what other people think about you, but you can control your own thoughts, feelings, and reactions. I typically try and choose to look for the best in everyone and give them the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes that takes a monumental effort, and sometimes I fail outright. In other words we are all human, we are all fallible, and we all have our own private battles…. Maybe choose to be kind.

We are all here because of a common interest in OPE. It seems like this place is the coolest when we stick to that and shoot the shít about life in general in our own sliver of the world. But at the end of the day though fellers this is your forum and thread and we aren’t twisting any ones arm to be here. Several of you made some good suggestions. How do you want me to manage the political stuff? Seems to me like a simple apology would go a long way after a perceived misstep?

This is not an age shot, you have seen more turns of the earth than I have. My greatest fear isn't the last 4 years of darkness, it is what the next 4+ will bring. Since election day three men; Musk, Bezos and Zuckerberg have amassed another 200 Billion dollars of wealth putting them just shy of a combined Trillion dollar fortune. I fear the influence these men have on your government and what there real goal here is. I fear the protectionist trade practices will harm your country and the world, a world wide economy that Ronald Reagan set in motion in the 80's.

I am sure some of you think of me as a lefty liberal or commie Canadian, I will tell you in my 36 years of voter eligibility I have never voted for a left of centre party and have allows supported the furthest right option I had. I do feel that I can no longer support that, even in my own country as it is fairly clear that their motives do not match what I want for my country or the word I will leave for my children and grand children.

More than anything I am a capitalist at heart, and believe that people should be able to earn a legitimate buck without government interference, I am a small government, let me choose how my money gets spent and allow me to support the causes I wish to support. I abhor foreign aid while our own people are suffering but I do feel that we need to stand up for the weak against a bully.

I long for a world where people can get along and decisions aren't made based on the lesser evil but on the most positive. The one that will help us most without lining the pockets of a few or even better, stays out of the way and let's the people do what they know is right.

I am afraid that we are headed for a world headed by elitists and oligarchs that only wish to promise themselves. A world where pedophiles can visit a place like Epstein Island and use their wealth and influence to keep their horrors quiet.

Michael, I believe you yourself just had the help of a government employee to allow you to better collect the benefits you are due. Does that person still have a job now or has Musk's DOGE not looked at her department to see how much "government" money they are giving to the people yet?

If my words and opinions hurt any of you I am sorry. They are not meant as attacks on any individual, especially in this group. As I have said before, I think of you all as friends / brothers a kinship we have chosen which in my mind should be stronger than any forced by sharing DNA.

Car Insurance is a odd business I had Allstate since 1986 absolutely no complaints
52.00 a month liability with towing and glass breakage on 2 old beaters I drive to work
I went to only put my new SUV on by itself they wanted 200.00 a month screw that
Erie 185.00, State farm 165.00, Geico 162.00 and fly by night unknown Insurance companies I never heard of
150-200.00
Progressive only wanted 113.00 and I asked about adding a truck
So now I have full coverage on the new one and liability on the truck with roadside assistance,glass breakage,rental car in emergencies etc
For 93.00 a month.

We just went through this. One kid soon to be two on our policy really hurts the wallet.

It’s never been political though. Not until pretty recently. I don’t see why you feel the need to share who you voted for or have deep philosophical political ramblings. 99% of the time it isn’t relevant to the discussion here. The forum has always been a politics free place.

He and the globalist elitists nearly succeeded with his 3rd term with puppet, Joe. Their schemes are being uncovered on a daily basis at present and I believe only the bare surface has been scratched.
I wouldn't trust Bezos at all and he has no part in the Trump admin. but Musk seems a different animal. Not all rich people are bad. Without the so-called "robber Barrons " of old here in the US we would still be at third world statis. Were some of them complete bastards? Yup. But, even those contributed to the innovations needed to make this country the greatest on earth. Most all of them started with nothing but a dream.
The whole tarrif argument has been blown out of proportion, imo. They have worked in the past and may do so again. We'll see.
