If I had back all the money I've spent on drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes, I'd be doing ok. Jesse Walker rode back and forth to work with me for 6 years. Once we decided to estimate how much we spent each year on these things. Over 20 years ago, we were spending about 15k each on feeding our addictions.

Now that right there would be a contest, I drank enough Bourbon to float the damn Bismark in my younger days. Probably enough tobacco cans to sink it if it were loaded with them.
Stupid Copenhagen was about 50 cents a can when I was ten years old and started dipping. I wish someone could have told me that 46 years later I would have to add another 13 dollars to that to get a can and maybe I would have thought differently about starting. Bad part is when quitting fails the habit doubles, I can't afford to attempt it and fail again.

My biggest problem was that I thought cocaine was less expensive than groceries. Boy was I wrong.

Fortunately, when I was commercial fishing up in Alaska, there were lots of that going around. Our skipper told us that before we went and tried it, to think about what we were going to do if we liked it first. Having met other fisherman that literally lost everything but the sea bag on their back, it was easy for me not to try it. That and watch others that were on it(and whiskey) try and talk when I was sober, I didn't want to look like a rubber jawed idiot either.

I got tired of the will they or won't they, so the I tried a different tactic, I went and put it on the grocery list for the week and like clockwork it was there with the groceries. Once I turned 16 Mom said I needed to start buying it for myself. Lol
