Gotta ask Ed. Is the 5.3 an engine to hot rod? You have been posting a chit ton on the valve train issue. Do all these issues go away with aftermarket components? Is it design, lack of maintenance, or country of components manufacture? It seems as if the General needs to belly up to the bar on valve train failures. Your thoughts??

Firecrakies starting early guys. Stay safe, keep them battery packs charged up for the Hey Dudes Eastern Hemisphere wearing members, and by all means where the hell is @Gullet?? Enjoy your 4th!!
It is independence day Tim, not the 4th of July. Everybody has a 4th of July. 😁

Just a pet peeve of mine. Take no offense.

Didn’t get as many logs sawed today as I hoped. Had some issues with the sawdust removal chain, and issues with the first tractor I put on the mill. It was still a good day though. Here is some of the red oak we milled today.View attachment 424874

There are a couple that have the appearance, but I haven’t done any real quartersawing yet. I have some really good logs in red and white oak that I want to try it on. The oak in the picture came from a big log…the cant was basically 20” x 22” before I started breaking it down.

What tractor did you run the mill with?

This one here….pto clutch started acting screwy, so we ended with my Dad’s New Holland TD 95D. I hope I didn’t smoke the PTO clutch on the 1950. View attachment 424876

That 1950 is a beautiful thing! I hope your clutch is alright as well, maybe something just needs adjustment.

Have a family friend who still farms with a pair of 1550's, one gas and the other diesel
