Was a fun day today.
This place was originally a DuPont plant. Built in the early 1960s. This monorail system, hoist setup, and even the Owen 3/4 yard grapple were here since 1962.

Grapple hangs from this hoist setup. One hoist raises and lowers the grapple. Other opens and closes it. Takes some skill to operate.

The glass-like stuff is a compound used as a basic adhesive. Has the look/weight, feel of glass, but melts when wet. Comes into this hopper from a chain conveyor around 450° F.

Trolley wheels that the hoist roll around on have bad bearings. One so bad the wheel was laying over and causing the thing to get stuck at all of the track splices. My coworker had to climb out over it in the support steel to pry the wheel over while I ran it. He had a MUCH worse day than me.

Finally got it outside, and its a lot worse than we thought. It has to come down for some major work, so I'll be back there tomorrow to get a quote from a mobile crane company.
