Good morning guys. The production team had a new temp start today. Call me judgmental, but I don't think this mfer is gonna work out.View attachment 278315
Have a good day and stay safe.
He's just down his lucky. Buy him some shoe laces, teach him to tie them... help a mfer out

Did he survive day #1?

Did not even pay attention. His machine ran all day because I didn't see it. Not sure if it ran 10 or 10000 parts though.

Yes, listen. Everyone gives you *s-word but I guarantee nobody here wants you hurt or worse.
Thanks. I wouldn’t want any of y’all to get seriously injured either, and I wouldn’t understand why anyone would want someone to potentially get hurt or killed

Was a fun day today.
This place was originally a DuPont plant. Built in the early 1960s. This monorail system, hoist setup, and even the Owen 3/4 yard grapple were here since 1962.0119210942.jpg
Grapple hangs from this hoist setup. One hoist raises and lowers the grapple. Other opens and closes it. Takes some skill to operate.

The glass-like stuff is a compound used as a basic adhesive. Has the look/weight, feel of glass, but melts when wet. Comes into this hopper from a chain conveyor around 450° F.0119211026a.jpg
Trolley wheels that the hoist roll around on have bad bearings. One so bad the wheel was laying over and causing the thing to get stuck at all of the track splices. My coworker had to climb out over it in the support steel to pry the wheel over while I ran it. He had a MUCH worse day than me.

Finally got it outside, and its a lot worse than we thought. It has to come down for some major work, so I'll be back there tomorrow to get a quote from a mobile crane company.

Plus it looks like it was filmed in the 80s in 8mm.
It is pretty sad.
It was hooked up to my friends 4 wheeler. He pulled it down as I was cutting as the tree had some lean to it. But I’m always open to any advice or constructive criticism you may have for me
You two should stay away from felling anything. I've seen dangerous and stupid. If that was hollow I'm sure you had no exit plan if it chaired with him helping speed up the kick back.
WOW
I'm always open to advice or constructive criticism from more experienced guys
Put your saw away and watch. Learn to properly buck first. No more tree cutting, agreed? Seriously. Death comes swiftly.
feelings lol

i agree with you completely
id been ok with him cutting cookies or firewood
that is the least dangerous part of the whole job
and i still couldnt make out that it was him holding the saw and why i called *B-S....
at his age i was working on a farm for my buddy and we logged some of his property to pay for his house
i was the one who cut the small stuff to get machine to the logs and id buck them at the landing
i still dont like cutting a bigger tree down
too many things can go wrong and i dont move like i use to
He shouldn't even being trying horsechit like that Dall. That was sketchy.
No one wants to see them get hurt.

I’ve never seen the eye before

Its downtown, we are at a place nearby. Apparently the guy tore down a building and was going to build a parking structure for the condo development next door. People complained that it would be an “eyesore” and the city cancelled his permit. His response apparently was “I’ll give you an eyesore...” installed that and greened over the entire lot with a fence around it so nobody could enjoy it.

Oh yeah Tim, its coming down. Wont be the first time, buts the last time was early 2001.
Testament to how tough old P&H hoists from Milwaukee were, but I could sell them something MUCH better for what they do.
They'd rather spend 10x as much in small increments.
Thats ok with me too, as long as its safe.
