It's possible. I've cleaned up 3-4 that using Randy's method this one is one of the worst I've seen going to try that first. Just curious.

Transfer can generally be sanded off.
As long as it has plating where the rings ride it's fine.

I got one from Definative Dave just like it. Best eight bucks I ever spent.

The only time you need the big end is for an MS880.

IIRC, the MS650 I had was a poly flywheel. I put a Asian MS660 top end on it. Cheaper than a Stihl 650 piston.[emoji849]
