0 issues with my new one so far

No worries is the eternal conflict between the stihl lovers versus the husqvarna lovers
the real truth is that the stihl and the husqy have live families for years and will continue , now if some problems come on to some peoples this not change the result

I sure do like the ms461 a lot... The saw REALLY came to life once it broke in....and i respect every ones opinion on the floppy caps, but I like them....they can be a pain if you don't start them correctly, but I haven't had a bad one yet.... I also have saws with screw caps, so both have worked well for me!!!'n

Having worked at Stihl during the change from the 0 to the MS in around 2001 I liked both groups for some different reasons but if I had to choose I would still have to say I like the 0 group more plus the 028 and 038 were bullet proof saws .
The biggest reason is the pre EPA saws just seem to run stronger and you could set them up so they really run nice , also they just seemed easier to work on too .

The modern saws run really strong too , not knocking those but these have come along after my time with the company so I'm not as comfortable with them nor do I have the diagnostic tools .

I went thru the same damn thing as an auto mechanic back in the 80's when we were switching from carbs to fuel injection and ECM's !! , too many glitches which I'm sure will improve in time .

The diference is that in cars , avionics maybe all this new technology save lifes and i speak generally and not only for the EFI at the other site i dont see the huge diference that the mtronic or autotune have offer , more is for advertisements reasons and sale more easy than to offer something critical

I guess with a MS261-CM and a MS-291 in my sig I qualify as having all three types of Stihls. And both the MS's run like a raped ape...ain't missed a beat yet, especially the 261-CM. But if I had to bet the farm on what I got and use these things for a daily living, gimme the '0 Series' all day long.

With saws and all power equipment it's so they can meet EPA regulations , the M-tronic and Auto tune allow them to meet the emissions the EPA wants from the OPE manufacturers .
Has nothing to do with safety or advertisement reasons .
This has been an up hill battle for saw makers for years now and I'm sure if they had never had these regulations we would likely still have saws with adjustable carbs .
I saw test saws back in the early 90's with CAT mufflers .

Bingo...!!!...and as well, to get you right back into the cha-ching cha-ching dealer for a raping on repair work, computer diagnosis/re-set, etc, etc, when that worthless warranty which might as well been written on the back of a Wendy's or Krystal napkin, expires.

O's are king but, but I have RA bad. The smooth springer saws are my favorite work saws. If your going to handle a saw all day long it needs to be smooth. I made up my mind this month I'm not going to run saws all day long anymore. Time has a way of changing your mind.

You are correct...it does make a huge difference. They're just not all cut from the same cloth. I've seen some real knucklehead dealers and mechanics at some places and other dealers and their mechanics treat you like your family and go out of their way to help folks.

A 066 and 660 have a bad reputation for vibs, most that are vib monsters have old mounts that are hard as a rock.
A new set of soft mounts will make a new saw out of it.

As much as I like to play around from time to time with my 200t, 026 and 066 I wouldn't give them up for my 201tcm,241cm and 661cm. Just start and run them, better AV, less fuel and better air filters
Time to unload them here.

Actually at one time you had 2-3 choices of firmness of the AV rubbers in the Stihl IPL , I don't believe they offer a choice now with the newer saws but in the time of the Zero series you did .

461 IPL shows different part numbers for the AV rubber, from a 461R to a regular flush cut handle 461.

Owning one of each flavor I can tell that there is a difference between them. The wrap handle 461 is stiffer, and the regular 461 is softer feeling. I prefer the firmness of the R one myself...

You can always justify another saw.

Mine didn't seem too bad, but I can tell a big difference in my 660 since changing all the mounts.
