...are pretty janky. Windows are a lot smaller, the skirts seem thin and it just feels cheap. This last week I've ordered a 200t, 026 and 460 pistons and they were mahles. I've also gotten 660 pistons since they lowered the price and they were mahles. This stihl brand 361 might as well be a golf hahaha. I'd be pretty interested to see what the meteor offerings are...if any one has one please post it up. I guess the reason for the post is buyer beware when getting a 361 piston. Mahle on the left, new stihl on the right.

Never seen one like that has to be a different maker you think. I've bought the mahles before just like the left one.

wonder why it is lightened up so much from the factory or is it close to the same weight but weight moved to other places

No need Dallas...I'm gonna roll with this one and see what happens. But you should post a pic of the meteor

I'll take the crap I have screwed to the old mahle and weigh them.

It has the Stihl emblem underneath- but I wonder if Stihl is making these in their Chinese facility at Quindao?

Yea it's a stihl alright...but this was kinda what I thought. I assume these are the pistons they're using in the 361's they're still making in Brazil?

What's the caliper say on the skirt thickness compared to the original?
Bout .058 vs .066. Roughly. I use a harbor freight digital so I might not have the most accurate.

looks like the meteor is close to the same as the old oem one in design and structure and it has the thin wrist pin

Don't need windows in a 361. She's a bottom feeder. Slab side would decrease case capacity and help more yet. But there's still the thickness problem. ...
Well yea...there's that. But what if I made the windows larger then put a bigger carb on it...would that help?:nusenuse: Then it would go fast yea?

I might be wrong, but I don't think those windows do anything in a 361 but perhaps allow better lubrication to the wrist pin. The charge doesn't flow through them, it's pushed up through the bottom of the cylinder

I assume some flows through the windows? Here's how the lowers look. I'm no saw porter though so you guys tell me...otherwise I'm just gonna wing it and blow *s-word up.

That Stihl piston looks as ghetto as Southside Chicago.

Install the piston, no rings, and install the jug. Mark the intake port on the piston at bdc with a pencil. Remove jug and piston and fit the piston back in the jug where your intake port is drawn
That's as far as the piston goes down. The windows are still above the lower transfer cut out
