@Fourpaws , swing by my house and I'll let you try out my Redmax.

Joey, I might take you up on that next time I'm out for a Sunday drive :kitt-kit:

Another question for the masses...tube mounted throttle, or hip mounted (left hand side)?

@Four Paws Josh, if you decide on a Echo/Shindaiwa unit let me know asap. My dealer had a 20% off customer day late last week and I bought a Echo PB-255ln blower for myself and a CS-590 (for a friend in Washington). The owner told me if Im needing anything else he will extend that sale a few days for me (good folks they are)
Plus its across the river in Oregon so there is no sales tax.

Anyone who has gotten the stihl BR450 or 600 from the shop I work at has not complained about them at all. Even the sprayer version of them we have had no issues with....except a lot of clogged fire screens cause no one runs those sprayers at full throttle. My .02 cents.

No comments on the hip throttle vs. tube mounted throttle?

Ive been in the landscaping business for 10 years and have always used the BR600. Yes they are good blowers, but are they the best? No. It all depends on what you are looking for. We are making the switch to the Husqvarna 580bts. This fall I will be buying a 580 for use around my property. The 570 is very good as well. The difference between the 2 is that the 570 blows faster to help scour the ground better, where as the 580 has more nuts to move big piles of leaves and debris. They are two different animals.

The redmax versions of these blowers don't have as good of back straps/harness and the throttle setups are different.

Ive spent the last few years servicing my brother in laws landscaping equipment for side work. Surprisingly his fs90r's and fs110's have held up quiet well over the years. Simple maintenance and good mix go a long ways. We have had at least 2 motor failures out of 6 Br600's. One of them was a non-magnum version. We want to go to a more simplistic design than the 4 mix setup. If one of the guys lean seizes a 4 mix, its usually game over, but with a regular 2 stroke, we may get lucky and only have to re-ring it.

I have a BG86 and really like it but as others have said sounds like a back pack blower might be a better fit for moving gravel and heavier stuff.

I have two bg86's and hate them i've been much happier with the the husky handheld my buddy has for small stuff.the bg86's Suck in the carb catagory.even after fiddling with the carbs and rebuilding, tuning till I turned blue in the face I still have to blip the choke a few times to get them to run.

I removed my spark screen on mine reset carb and it runs very strong for two years now. They will plug the spark arrestor screen fast. When I had the lawn care business in FL I ran an echo back pack blower and hand held but that was 20 years ago. Things have changed since then. I personally would rebuy the 86 again. But I haven't run the other current models.

The only thing I notice is they 4 stroke hard for a minute until it warm up then runs smooth.

I have a ported bg85 and its a joke compared to my 10yr old trouble free br600. I check the valves on the br600 regularly

Well, not as many CFM's as many others, but IMO the Echo pb 400/410 and 210 are two of the best blowers ever made, built like a tank and last for ever, with one exception, on the echo 210e being that they came in electronic ignition only and are tough to find ignition parts for when/if needed, where the pb400 came in both point version and electronic ignition, and for me, the point version is the one to look for, far less likely to have ignition issues, otherwise excellent blowers, I still own a pb 210 and have owned a couple 400's over the years........:thumbsup:volkswagen-golf-2-gti-g60-462.jpg 98225294_-vintage-echo-pb-210e-power-leaf-blower-handheld-vgc-.jpg

I've got 2 br600's and a br550. I haven't had any issue with the 4 mix. I do decarbonize them once a year though. I even run the dreaded orange Stihl mix. They get used every day and I don't have to worry about them. While the larger models might be overkill for an average homeowner, they would certainly blow pine cones around!
