So what's the price you want to sell it?
I'm actually thinking about putting it in my tree service fleet.
I need a 72cc saw to fill the gap between my 562XP and 066 magnums.
These early 044's are about the weight of a 562XP, (I'll post pics of weights later).
I've been seriously looking at the MS462 for the last year but I'm not swinging a saw 6.5 to 8 hours a day anymore. So anti vibe and fuel economy etc is not important anymore.
Running a tree service with most days with high heat and humidity I can't rely on the finicky 562XP or any other micro processor saw.

I'm going back 31 years when Stihl got it right with the 10mm 044.
Perfect main saw for my tree service, back it up with the 066's and put the 562 on the shelf.

My '92 066 mag redlite/064 hybrid is going straight to a full racing career retirement. 084 carb and few other tricks will be a great ripper.
My low hour '97 066 mag 28"-36" will backup the 044's bigger chores.
Now this '97 066 mag (Canadian model) is another saw Stihl got right before EPA stepped in in 1998.
Beautiful capable ultimate 066 work horse!

For a mid size the 044 would be my close second choice compared to the 038 magnum .They are a nice saw ,the replacement 440 was also nice .I don't have much praise however for the 441 that replaced it .Fact being although I haven't had that much experience with the so called low emission saws I've yet to see one I really have liked . Too much old school perhaps and too damned stubborn to change .--Guilty as charged ---

Put the 044 into some gnarly jack pine this after noon. Sure brings back memories when I bought my first 10mm brand new.
I gotta check the specs but I know these first year 10mm were spec'd under 13 lbs , the weight of a 562XP and feels like it's got twice the power then the Husky.

Gonna check the wear indicator ridges on the rings to night and see how much longer till they're seated.

I've been running my 562 for 8 seasons now and like how it spools up and rips like it's modified.
But I forgot until today how this 044 pulls like a freight train from low end up, crazy ammount of torque and top end for a stock not broken in saw. But it is 71cc not 62.
It just feels like the weight of a 562. High power to weight ratio can be deceiving.

Found this old spec sheet we were passing out to dealers spring of 1989.
12.8 lbs PHO for these first year 044 10mm.
After work today I'll dump the fuel and oil out of the 562 and 044 then put them on the weigh scale.

Those are some of the reasons that sold me on the 044 over the Husqvarnas back around 89, that and we could keep the Stihls cutting wood while the search was on for missing fasteners on the Huskys.
