This morning my treework customer brought this out from his shed and asked me what it's worth.
My jaw was hanging to my knees, Lol.
He said he bought it brand new in 1989, he wanted a 16" b/c so the dealer swapped the longer ES b/c it came with for a Oregon setup.
It only cut for a day to buck up a delivered load of birch firewood in his driveway.
It was too hard to start for him so it sat in his shed for 31 years.

I put some fresh fuel mix in it and it ran perfectly. Nice to feel a brand new running saw again as mine are all old.
I was honest with him that he can easily get his money back what he paid for it.
But do I need another vintage saw.....

It sure brung back memories just like when I bought my old 10mm brand new.
I noticed the familiar vibration right away but at WOT no vibration and it rips!!
I forgot how much power these old saws have and it's not even close to being broke in yet.

Why wouldn’t you buy it? :)
Over the last 2 years I sold off all my vintage saws with my old 10mm 044 included . Still have a couple OEM rebuilt 066 magnums.
Not so easy up here in Canada turning over saws for a profit.
I could do really good selling in the US, but too much hassle with shipping.

I think that's a 10mm wrist pin saw, so the crank would have to be changed in order to hybridize it.
I've just picked up a 10mm 044 with a killed crank and fugged up cylinder. With an MS440 crank (clearanced of course) do they make a good hybrid - with the very small case capacity?

They make a good runner, stock or ported, but they won't hang with an 046 or MS-460 in bigger wood. One of the earlier ones I built in 2003, I used a NOS early case for the 10MM wrist pin crank, and had to do
some shaving of both the crank and case. It was ported and didn't really care which carburetor it had. With the Walbro, it did good with up to a 32" bar in western softwoods. I fell timber with it off and on for about
a year.

Short answer, yes they do. I only had to clearance the crank when I did one. Have another to do this fall.
