I think you can get pretty close if you know how to calculate degrees from stroke position. Measure the port opening distance from the squish band minus a common squish clearance for that model, then turn that measurement into degrees with some fancy circle math.

I'd like to learn how. I probably would have paid attention in math class if they taught how to find port engine timing this way instead of a general example on a graph with no real world application.

I have a FT 660 cylinder, the first I ported, and first I used a 90deg tool on transfers that I want to try improving with epoxy in the uppers, and see if I can make it sort of a quad port.

All the equations are given in A Bells book.

I have heard debate over the best jugs ... do you like the 066 jugs with or w/o the decomp ... or no difference. I have more experience with the 066 decomp jugs, and many of them run pretty good.
I’ve seen decomp and non decomp jugs have both good and bad numbers. I’d imagine something could be figured out by the brand and number of + on it, but I don’t know for certain

If that piston skirt is not sealing the exhaust (on the left of your pic) it will not be good (perhaps it is just twisted a bit?).

Got it back together and fired up this morning, I probably won't be able to tune and try it out until tomorrow but at least I know it runs and didn't hang a ring.

I had a few minutes so I tried it out and it doesn't do to bad, a little slow but has good torque. I might be able to get the RPMs up when I get it tuned.

For these clone's.
Send one to the dyno

I want a dyno. I love modifying anything small engine so tuning on a dyno would be so helpful. I'm keeping an eye out for a used one.

Myself i try very hard to get a new build running and quickly tuned and in a loaded cut as quick as possible. In my experience loading the rings and seating them very quick lends to a much better running engine.
