Scott did always tell me he went flat across, I believe you are correct Mike.

But I like Shaun’s approach better.

FWIW, I think 066 are limited by piston skirt width. It’s one of the narrowest skirt width to bore ratio I’ve ever seen. I believe it’s why they need more exhaust duration to run well.

I think many of Scott’s best runners were built on a 288 piston platform, and I believe it was to get more time x area without excessive exhaust port duration.

They do pretty well at around 23deg blow down, so you only have to raise the transfers around 0.020". Hopefully you can get the port stager in there, open the ex side first by 0.015" ~1.5deg opening.

I did the transfers like you suggested, now the exhaust side opens at 116 and goes to around 118 on the intake side. That would give me 20 degrees blow down.

Also worked on the muffler a little and cut part of the baffle out, it's going to be loud.

I got the Hyway Titanikel plated cylinder, nice looking cylinder. I'll post the timing numbers taken with a ring in a few, the EX number I took with my eye on the Neotec cylinder was off a couple of degrees and it ended up being 94 with a ring, not 96.

I also got one of The Duke's pop up pistons for the Neotec cylinder, I'll probably cut a taller pop up and leave out the base gasket.

I think I would delete the base gasket, check the width of the Ex and In, advance the timing and run it!

I'm glad the numbers are good because from what I've read the plating on these chip bad when you grind on them. I've got a kit saw on the way and I'll put it on that one the way it is.

I don't own a little scale but the Dukes piston felt significantly lighter than the oem, I didn't think the machining quality was as good as meteor but definitely working.

I was just looking at the Duke's piston, it is very light and the skirt is a lot thinner than the Hyway.
