My dad has had one of these for over ten years. I bought myself one last fall. Excellent trimmers!

I have a 15 yr old Stihl FS250r and a new old stock Husqvarna 323L that I bought from Terry L last year. Incredibly lite and powerful.

2010 Husqvarna 223L trimmer and 2013 Husqvarna 223R brush cutter, both have ben updated with factory non cat mufflers. Not a minuites trouble out of both, weekly cut about 3/4 of acre of ditch and fence line during the summer.

I've got a FS55 and two FS85 s. About the only Stihl stuff I'm partial to. They've been a good value.

Noticeable gain on the muffler?

I noticed a small gain in performance, but the biggest thing was that the engine heat was greatly reduced. I know long term that it will extend engine life, the biggest plus in not burning my arm on the engine on the 223L. The muffler is avalable through Husqvarna, If you want I can find the part number,I still have the old mufflers in the non cat boxes in the garage.

OK, thanks! I'm way ahead of you...found one for $35 shipped which seems to be about the lowest price. 537161901 is the one I am looking at. The cat muffs are around $60-70 from what I've seen. If you would double check the part number I would be much obliged! Jesus...now I'm modding my trimmer! :eusa_doh::grazy: :hollering:

Have had this Husqvarna 244 brush cutter since new in the mid 90s . Been no trouble at all and have just serviced it ready for the coming season. Lots in common with the 200 series of saws and has about the same power as the 242 xp.

I have an old Homelite trimmer that looks like the echo, Don't know how old it is. I pulled it out of the trash years ago and cleaned the carb and I still use it some. It won't die.

Got you all beat. A old echo and ryobi 4 cycle. And the most powerful is the 7 kids and a st Bernard of destruction. If it's standing it won't be soon enough.
