My first muffler mod

Spent some time today doing my first muffler mod. My Husqvarna 55 Rancher that @PA Dan helped me put together earlier this year was just too quiet. Saw has a new OEM top end and is stock besides a BGD.

I already nipped the tabs off the outlet and removed the spark screen when I put the top end on, but the internal baffle was the real problem. I didnt get a "before" video, but it sounds a lot better and I'm sure it's breathing better.

Nice work. Looks and sounds good.
Don’t forget to retune it now. It’s likely gonna need a little twisting of the high side mixture screw.

Thanks! The brazing is a little crude, I feel like I could've done better with a thinner rod and more flux, but I'm happy enough with it. I definitely have to get a tach on it.

Nice, pulling the muffler apart and understanding how it works and what obstructions are actually in the way is the best approach.

im a fan of brass brazing rod too at least thats what it looks like you used

Thanks. I might try to make a piped version at some point and bypass that baffle entirely. Yep that's brass brazing rod.

That was the work of the previous owner. Chain brake still works fine. This was a "dead saw salvage", I bought it as a boredom buster when covid first hit and instead of getting covid I got CAD...
