Hello everyone. I had been on "another site" and Drf255 told me about this site. I am glad to see many of the same people reside here. I've received a lot of help and met some very knowledge and generous people who are now here.

With that said, Drf255 will soon be porting my 036 cylinder. I'm totally excited since this will be my first ported saw and I can't wait to see his work. I've been collecting parts and trying to learn as much as possible.

I'm also in the middle of a Makita 6421 to 7910 conversion I started back in October. Poleman modified a coil and carb for that beast and it now just awaits assembly.

I'm looking forward to a new site with less drama and good conversations.

Anyone want to share some good numbers for the 036?

On my last one, I went 103/122(E)-119(I)/84 (didn't fill the intake with epoxy). I took .052 from the band in error. I left the squish at .025 because I was already freeporting. It was the first saw I ever ported. I wound up with a ridge at the SB edge and thought I was hitting The chamber, when in fact, it was the ridge. So I took more out before I realized what was happening. I put bridge ports in.

The saw runs remarkably well and has around 220 psi on comp.

My understanding is that raising the intake back to 80 will really liven up the saw. I have Devcon and plan on doing that to BT's jug.

So, anyone have some great numbers that they are willing to share?

I cant imagine they would be to terribly far off the 1128s Al. Probably like a little less blowdown.

John,

I'm not sure I get what you mean.

More blowdown than stock, or more blowdown than I used?

I'm gonna start a seperate thread asking for numbers, I don't wanna hijack Pat's thread.

I never had a Stihl if this series opened this far. It sure looks light weight. The saw is a 1990 I believe. I was impressed and checked to see if they didn't say "Callies" or "Manley" on it. JK

Al, 103/120

Just widen the intake.

I know the intake seems real long, but it works on this saw.

You might go higher on the exhaust, and higher on the transfers and get more.......but I've done a lot with those numbers and they are a good solid starting point.

Thanks to all that responded.

That little connecting rod looks, ummm..., little.

Will it handle the compression bump and power of a ported 036 jug?

I have an extra 1125 crank here. The rod is certainly "beefier".

Anyone snap a conn rod on one of these before?
