I haven't actually got a clue what it is due to the lack of bark, however I suspect it's a large beech, it's going to be the test bed for my turbo sawmill when it arrives in 6 weeks time!

The recoil cover looked to be from a 298 or 285 that needs the spacer. For $600 I think I'd wait to buy a nice looking running saw.
