G'day all I just couldn't think of anywhere to put this so move it if it's better elsewhere .
my son's girlfriend wants to buy him another multi-tool over the last 3 years he has broken 4 Leatherman waves obviously they are not strong enough is there anything new or another brand on the market that is very robust he's a tradesman so yeah tools get used and used hard any help would be very much appreciated .

What parts were breaking? The original leather man was made in Portland Oregon. Not sure if they all are still made there or not, but I think they are, and am pretty sure they have a 25 year warranty. Have you tried to get any of them warrantied? They have been good to me, but is also easy for me to get replacements, I am only 60 miles away! lol have an original and wrench, and had a wave, but unfortunately lost it. I liked my wave, but I also felt I could break it, or any tool if I worked super hard. I wouldn’t use mine as a replacement to regular tools...more of an convenience or emergency use.

yes all 4 under warranty he's just sick of taking them back all the time the weak spot is where the handle butts up against the pliers when you open them up as you apply a lot of pressure it just buckles and then the handles completely closed up on one another and they no longer work

If he is folding the handles using the pliers i don't think you will find a tool that will hold up like a real pair of pliers. All the multi tool i have ever seen have light duty pliers.
That's what I was gonna say,I've broken a couple pairs, but I realized I was being to hard on them. Chilled out on what I did with them and all is good now.

I suppose you could call the Leatherman as the Swiss army knives of multi tools .They work if that's all you have to use but they were never made to be a substitute for regular tools .Leatherman is not the only one to make them BTW .

I’ve actually had good luck with gerber multi pliers, they slide out of handle and seem stronger

The one pair of gerber multi pliers I had were strong enough to hold up cutting 9 wire for anchoring scaffold picks
