Hello all,
Can any one point me at a muffler mod write up for the shindiawa 500?
Is it as simple as leaving the spark arrestor cover off or is that to much?
I have searched but can not find anything for older Shindiawa saws= completely different muffler design

This is a pic of the front cover with the spark arrestor cover off. Leaving it off would open it right up, probably to much.

The exhaust port is aprox 340 mm square(.527"square ), the 4 ports in the baffle add up to 667square mm (1.03" square).

As far as i can tell the holes in the Spark arrestor cover add up to aprox 133 square mm(.205" square)

If i left the spark arrestor cover off the hole would be aprox 769mm square(1.19"Square).

Try it with the cover off and see if you like it, just be sure to re-tune the carb if you try it
