289 V8 and 300 inline 6 FTW! If you tie your boat to a 360 block as an anchor, the boat will start getting bad gas mileage.... ![money :money: :money:](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Hatin on the v8's... ey yi yi...I’m wif Heef on this one... Cummins FTW!
Sure it’s not an NP435?
You’re lucky... I got to learn on a damn ‘78 Chevy with a 250 6 cylinder and a 3 on the tree! High geared sumbitch would do 50 in first gear...
No way in hell would I pull that with a pickup. I have exactly zero faith in trailer brakes. I never had the chance to try the elec/hydraulic style though.I've grossed over 43k with my 08 2500 cummins. Pulls it no problems. You just got to worry about stopping at that point. That's why we switched to electric over hyd brakes on our trailers.

25,000 is max for me. Just got electric brakes on the dump trailer, though. Still way illegal in Ca, unless the truck/trailer combo is licensed for that much gross weight, and the driver has a class A license. No way in hell would I pull that with a pickup. We built the trailer from scratch it has 2 heavy 15k axles with the hydraulic drums. We were a touch overloaded but not too bad. We've grossed out over 54k with the same trailer hooked to our 02 dodge 3500 cummins hauling a 980 cat payloader bucket we rebuilt. No way in hell would I pull that with a pickup. We r out in rural missouri. And only go less that 60 miles with a load like that.25,000 is max for me. Just got electric brakes on the dump trailer, though. Still way illegal in Ca, unless the truck/trailer combo is licensed for that much gross weight, and the driver has a class A license.
My stepdad had a 197? Ford truck with a 390. That was the biggest POS engine I ever saw. It got probably less than 7 mpg and I bet it wasn't pushing 150 hp. I used to wonder where all the gas went. It was like pouring gas down a hole in the ground, and yet it couldn't get out of its own way.
Not a Ford hater – I have modern Fords, including a 03 5.4 F150 and an 01 F250 7.3 diesel and love them – but that 390 of Bob's was just embarrassingly and unbelievably bad...all it did when you pressed down the gas pedal was make more noise, and it could barely manage that.
And yet the Pontiac 400 in my 69 Goat put out 350bhp and prolly got better mileage (12 mpg?) than that pig 390.
...or maybe it was a 360 in Bob's truck...I forget, honestly. All I remember is that it was a DOG.
Same... I try to keep under 22. I'm a chicken like that.25,000 is max for me. Just got electric brakes on the dump trailer, though. Still way illegal in Ca, unless the truck/trailer combo is licensed for that much gross weight, and the driver has a class A license.
BooKnowing me.......Bubba's old truck will likely be LS powered if the right bellhousing can be found.
A 6.0 LS would do the trick! Advance Adapters has a kit, it’s a little over $400. Or do what this guy did ...Knowing me.......Bubba's old truck will likely be LS powered if the right bellhousing can be found.
Very sad whats happening in greece right now, a very unusual combination of unbelievably bad events...
I wish everyone involved the best i can! Stay strong and safe out there!
Now damnit, they jest show'd ya a pitchr of the ford engine with the distributor out front. Not as bigga deal since the went away from breaker point ignition.Knowing me.......Bubba's old truck will likely be LS powered if the right bellhousing can be found.
I thought you had a deuce and a half?I'm dirt floor poor.......so I'll never have a diesel pickup.....

I'm still learning lol. That's how it signals for a left turn![]()
