I run a 8 pin with a 37" on my 395 all the time. It hasn't had a 7 on it since it was stock. My other saws very.7 pin seems to keep saw in powerband much better. Especially for working it!
8 pin for cutting cants and GTGs. Lol
Keep those Hooskies in check! [emoji16]
Big difference. 395 is a much bigger/stronger saw.I run a 8 pin with a 37" on my 395 all the time. It hasn't had a 7 on it since it was stock. My other saws very.
I was just replying to the comment that 8 pins were for cants and 7 were for work.Big difference. 395 is a much bigger/stronger saw.
In my experience they let too many fines in for summer work. I’d probably run it without the cover if I was to consider milling. Modding the cover to flow more air works good for me too and I’m not screwed if it rains. I guess one could just buy a max flo.Mason, have you tried a Winter Filter?
If I'm running my hybrid with a 20 I go with an 8. Any longer it gets a 7. My chinese saw has an 8 on it but it's only running a 25".Although my 066/660s can handle an 8 pin just fine, I still prefer a 7 pin on them. I don't even consider an 8 pin on my sub 90cc saws, I think it is just for show (cookies/cants).

I should have clarified better. I was only referring to this saw. The 462. Basically 440/460s.I was just replying to the comment that 8 pins were for cants and 7 were for work.

Who ported your 395? Just curious.I had an 8 pin on my ported 660. It was great for firewood, but I swapped it out for a 7 for burying a 32" or longer bar.
Since then I've traded that saw for a ported 395. I left the 8 pin on it when I buried a 36" bar stumping some locust. I woulda swapped it except that outboard clutch, you know. Anyway, I was beyond impressed with how it pulled even with the 8 pin.
Yeah.....I was wondering the same thing.
4-5 drivers really sealed the deal huh? LOL
Oh boy... to clarify that statement "when I'm bucking firewood or climbing." Yes, you can use a wedge climbing, done it.You're foolish not to carry wedges with you bud. You may have much more experience than me but wedges will get you out of a bad situation quick.
Eye bleach please!Pics ffs
Hey Brad, that's a blanket statement.IMHO, am 8-pin rim doesn't belong on a 70cc class work saw? That's why he bogged it so many times in the face cut. Not the saws fault.
Done deal, killed it. It will kill your 462 too. Read it on da interwebsYeah.....I was wondering the same thing.

Me2I’d much rather have the air filter/av/mtronic of the 462 over a hybrid imho.

For a 70cc class work saw with a 32" bar oi bar length wood, would you disagree? I've never seen an exception.Hey Brad, that's a blanket statement.
