I will try another Walbo carb kit and double check the metering lever. Also have a coil on the way. Thanks.

The metering lever is set flush with the body of the carb? If so, maybe take it down just a fuzz

A very small amount off can kill a saw, and the carb I fixed had been re built by a Stihl Dealer (who told the saw owner he now needed to purchase a new carb). It was on a MS 660.

When the H needle is half way out it is running around 12500-12800, so fairly rich.

Just curious as to what it runs in the cut like when the needle is half way out.

Have you tried tuning in the cut..

The stock 461 I tested seemed to like being tuned right at the 13.5k limiter to make the best power/run good. Can’t speak for a modified one.

Have read some where the optimum tune is supposed to be 14.1k stock, with 460 coil, I tune mine just under the limiter and it’s great, mm, bgd and wider ports. I think I usually have the h screw 3/4 to 1-1/16 out. When it was stock with limiter caps the h screw was all the way in, and once the limiter removed it liked a 1/2 turn out

Update: I ordered a new OEM carb, trimmed the limiter caps so it can be fully adjusted, and the saw runs much better. Revs faster and seems to have full power. I have the high speed set at 13,300-13,400 just before hitting the rev limiter.

I still can't find any problem with the old carb- it was clean when I first rebuilt it, and I went through it 2nd time with no change.

Some carbs are just plain junk. At least you can say you tried.

No I still have both coils.

I still suspect the lever spring or adjustment.

But in any case, glad you got it resolved, that is all that matters.

What jet is in the good carb???

There is only one oem carburetor, the HD-50/A with .58mm jet. The Brazil version HD 51/A has a .64mm jet.
