Speaking of… what is the best plan for a stripped muffler bolt hole? Half the threads came out with the blessed lok tite (different application)
Are you talking about threads stripped from the case? I have two such situations and thought that a slightly larger hole and retapping was probably the only way to go...but this would be my first shot at it, not sure if there are any other/better methods.

Use a Helicoil repair of your choice if in aluminum. You will end up with stronger threads than original.

Should I admit to having put muffler screws on a hot stove element, before screwing them in?
Yes pliers and a couple of room temp practice runs were involved.
It was for an adapter plate. Screws were countersunk, into the plate to hold it onto the engine and then the (larger) muffler was bolted to the plate. So thus nowhere to run safety wire in this location.
Was a Redmax 8500 muffler bolted onto an Echo pb-500. Yeah the blower with the reed controlled intake and transfers had me curious what output was to be had from it.
Carb venturi is where I feel I ran out of breath at.
Bad knees have put a pause on most of my hobbies though. maybe one day again...

Did you port the cylinder as well? Reason I’m asking is that I have already worked over a PB-580 and it really didn’t gain that well. It is the newer replacement of the 500 with standard non-strato port style.
Also curious because I’m in the middle of porting a junk/free CS-550, which uses the same weird style of reed valves transfers. I wouldn’t give a dime for those saws, but I’m curious to see what gains I can get.

On some cylinders from Husqvarna(like the 390?), Helicoils were already installed from new. This should be fine if installed correctly. For myself, I like to out a drop of red hi-temp Loctite on when I install them and make sure it is all the way in good as the last bit of the coil is what keeps it from backing out. It's not often that this type of repair becomes necessary as most fasteners are plenty long and won't pull the threads, usually it's when one becomes loose and vibrates itself to death is when it's needed.

Watched video of timesert brand. Tools are expensive inserts are reasonable…
Yeah, I looked into timeserts, ended up going with a helicoil it off of Amazon for another job. They worked well for holding cylinder bolts in on an 076.

EFSM. I smoothed out the sharp corners underneath the transfer caps and put a small bit of a "notch" in the transfer (4 port) most opposite of the exhaust. Trying to direct a little bit of sweep up across the combustion chamber and towards ex port. Base gasket omitted too.

Please Forgive the derail, I should have just stopped with the mention of heating some screws to help with keeping the exhaust snug.

You're fine.

Threads in jug at exhaust flange. I think it’s 5mm. Watched video of timesert brand. Tools are expensive inserts are reasonable…
Local hardware store sells an insert in there generic plastic divided bins, inserts are like 75 cents to a couple dollars depending on size. The label on bin says what size drill and tap to use then they just screw in with a straight blade screwdriver. Long as there’s enough material they work great
