That’s strange for me.

Both my 362 & this 261 didn’t seem to mind?

From what I've seen it depends on the oil. For example, they run fine on schaeffer 7000 and 9000 32:1. (all scott uses is 7000 32:1...so all saws tested on it). I have had similar issues with R50 as well. Also, yeah Motul is thicker stuff than RA.

So,

Which 7000 Schaeffer?

On Amazon all I see is 4 stroke weights?

It’s Synthetic? Boo Hiss.

We used to buy Schaeffers diesel engine oil by the drum when we were in the chicken business.

Dad got hooked up with a supplier. The engine oil we used was good stuff.

I'm having the same exact issues. MS261c with 16" bar under a good load. 32:1 with dolmar synthetic and 90 e free. The plug is getting so hot it's pre-igniting. The only time I've ever had this problem was a few years ago with stale ethanol fuel. I haven't picked up new fuel yet to check.

It's not a broad mtronic or autotune failure. I've recently ported 550's, 562's, 241's, 261's, and 661's with no issues. In the past, I haven't had issues with the 90 e free 32:1 recipe.

In my not so humble opinion, 40:1 will provide plenty of oil. But hey, you do what give you a warm and fuzzy feeling.

I’m sure it will.

As you know I run a bunch of different saws from different eras, & I prefer to keep everything on 1 mix.

So do I and I do so with a 40-1 mix for everything anti-Q to present and all in between.

40:1 will do that just fine. Like you, I run a mix of old, and new saws. 40:1 fits the bill perfectly.

You know all the saws that are on my truck, 40:1 RA for everything except the small saws they go at 50:1 per Randy’s recommendation.

An interesting thread doc. Very interesting indeed.

Maybe a few too many large sandwiches added to the picnic, could be time to go back to smaller sandwiches.

I Really like your threads of your perfection, :)

And your attention to your work perfection.

Cheers.

Thanks Kevin.

Another stupid question then, could coil air gap then affect coil temp?
Hotter spark, more induced heat?

Im just thinking on my mower engine days, we ran billet flywheels with rare earth magnets and gaps were .040-.060" and changing it was enough to alter cylinder head temps with no other changes.
