Ms261 with the new light bars

Do you guys like these new light bars stihl is putting on the saws these days???

I love my ms261c and it came with a 16 inch bar I want to get an 18 for it….i don’t like the new bars seems to me they tend to collect debris in the bar groove more that the .63 gauge….anyway just curious what everyone thought about these new bars….

I like it for certain things and dislike it for others.

They are the same as the old ones, just new logo. They are not the same as the “light” series of bars.

Supposedly that's not true. They say these bars designated for Narrow kerf chain are different.

Yeah, the Light 04 feels substantially different than the older Rollomatic E bar. Sugi makes a good LW bar in .063

Supposedly that's not true. They say these bars designated for Narrow kerf chain are different.

They make the light 04 laminated bar in 050 and .063 they are different then the old rollomatic e they replaced and are 10-20% lighter than the old bars depending on length. They saved weight by making rail profiles slightly thinner and a different tip shape. Definitely not a the quality of the es but still on par with the old ones from what I’ve seen sofar and still better than a lot of the new Oregon ones I’ve seen. Don’t worry all the bars will have new paint jobs soon enough for the ones that care how they look. They sell a light 06 also the 04 and 06 stand for how many rivets in tip. Old bars on left and the new replacements on right

My scale says otherwise at least for the 3005s I have to compare.

well on the 2 displayed it isn’t a very big difference for sure but if they are the same mount and pitch bars it is about 5% difference so technically while not perceivable in use it’s not really a lie when they say they are a small percentage lighter and the percentage does get larger on the bigger bars. But yes for in use they are basically the same.

For what it’s worth, the old .050 E bars I have here are .177” wide if someone wants to compare
