HELP! MS 461 broken case tab repair

So this well used 461 has a broken tab on the clutch side case and the owner doesn’t want to split and rebuild yet. I have some pictures below to show the damage.

I am wondering if I could get the ole JB welder out and work around the support fins and possibly insert a steel pin to secure it. This is the inner dog mount so likely needs to strong enough to hold up. Does anyone have any insight or advice?

Is this a case replacement situation? It wouldn’t be a bad thing to do a rebuild on it at this stage of the saws life.

I feel your pain. My 500i is the same way. I was trying to find a local guy to weld it back on. But people around here look at me like I’m crazy. Sooooo I bought the case half and split it when I get a chance.

There are some guys here on OPE that have successfully welded up case halves like this. I’m not sure on pricing but my goal is to get mine welded up after I install the new one I bought, God willing. This way I can still use the saw.

I had a guy weld my 461 tab up.
Been 5 or so years ago.
Chap has since passed.

Then CFB ported the saw,, its probably cut more thean 20 cord since.

Oddly mine is cracked in the same location. Not broken off but has a crack. Should I JB weld it up before it breaks?
