But man you didn’t run one with a bark box yet.... that’s the real ticketNot trying to stir up some crap but the 500i is a little overrated in my opinion. I ran one at a CT GTG a couple years back and in my hands if felt like any other 80cc saw that I have ran but a little snappier because of the fuel injection. Not bashing at all, just sharing my opinion.
And I’m not a fanboy either... I like me some 461s, 036s, 7910s, 6400s and the like. And what I have seen, all brands have had their fair share of bad saws, not saying the 500i is one of them. At the end of the day they are just saws. Any saw I can pick up that starts easy and causes no problems Ill run it. Sorry for the book
Lol. Barkbox=But man you didn’t run one with a bark box yet.... that’s the real ticket. Lol
Time to sell the 281 for one? Change the name to stihlrider400? LolWelp... I changed my mind on the 500i after the PA GTG... I ran one that has been stuffed with sausage and another one ported by CFB and holy crap... they are an 80cc saw that feels like it has the power of a 90cc saw. And both were pulling 8 pins, the one CFB did up with a 20” bah and the XS with the 36”. Very strong saws.
The other one was cfb’s saw, ported by @Redfin. Sort of a “port job trade between friends” dealWelp... I changed my mind on the 500i after the PA GTG... Huh. Never new about that. That was a good running saw though. Johny Redfin did a darn good job on it.The other one was cfb’s saw, ported by @Redfin. Sort of a “port job trade between friends” deal
What light? Lool just kidding. Ill take any brand saw (NOT a walmart-bought poulan or crappy poulan copies) as long if it runs good starts easy ill run it till it pukes. I definitely atley ran more Squeels at this past PA GTG than I did at Dans CT GTG a couple years back.He is finally seeing the light!
To each their own, stock the 462 is the winner in my personal book, more grunt and HP, ported the others come out on top for sure.[emoji111]Well I have had to change my vote from not swinging my purse to the STIHL MS 462 after running 1 for a while in Australian hardwood to Peaky not enough torque and this one was ported (and yes I ran it before being ported)I would rather use my 460 or my 461. make a wicked limbing saw with a 20 inch bar put a 24" or 32"and not enough torque.
Even stock a 500i will pull a 8 pin just fine in hardwood, in fact after I gave the 8 pin a try, that's all I've been running on the saw. The 500i reminds me a lot of the 7900, which has been doing much the same for nearly 20 years now, but the 7900's ship has finally sailed.Welp... I changed my mind on the 500i after the PA GTG...
