Got it! The last issue was caused by me. Got the fuel line on the wrong side of the coil wire and pinched it.
Still needs some carb tweaks.

For what it's worth, these are actually quite easy to work on.
They look alot worse than they are.
I will also mention that the newer ones with the removable recoil would be much, much easier. Most of my problems or frustration came with trying to fit the engine in past the recoil.

So, all you slackers with a pile of these laying under your bench, dig them out and get them going. If nothing else, they are quite comical to use.

Good job Ed!

Great work Ed!

I never understood why so many people think these are a nightmare to work on. So many people need to work at a Volkswagen dealership. Then they wont be thinking they are that bad ( vw's arnt too bad to work on either:D)

Holy *s-word you made a whole thread on these turds?

Hellz yeah. I asked the O.G. mini mac master Stumpshot if anyone had ever done a thread. He said no.
So I figured why not.

Thanks Steve!
Pretty much any modern car would suffice.
Once a guy has had hands on the c.f. that is a Duramax fuel system, these are gravy.

Yeah, automotive engineers are geniuses.
Like the 4 cylinder diesel we have in the Equinox now. Lets put the timing chain in the back of the engine so the trans has to come out.

I think timing belts on a audi a8 was my worst one. And the cluster funk of a messy mile of chain on a gm high feature 3.6 v6. Wtf were they thinking.
