OK, although I am not knowledgeable in carbs and AV, for the life of me, I can't figure out why ANY carb would be mounted to the shroud frame or AV frame of any part of the saw???? What gives here...am I just that dumb? What am I missing or not seeing? Just asking...I know dumb questions are allowed, so I threw it out there.

Did you notice if they snuck any aluminum bolts in there for weight savings?

It's a pretty good mount system really. The rear carb support/air filter mount is held in place by two rubber bushings.

Gotcha in the understanding, I'm just still mad that mine leaked between the shroud and carb, and I want to blame it on stihl engineering!

That is pretty odd. Should be a tight fit there. I'll look closely at that. Might need some goop on it. :)

For the geeks in the room......

NE Stock Numbers:

Ex: 100°
Transfers: Mains: 130° Secondaries: 128°
In: 71°

OE Stock Numbers:

Ex: 103°
Transfers: Mains: 130° Secondaries: 127°
In: 71°

The NE also has a redesigned combustion chamber.
Nice work my man. I'm one of the geeks looking at this post. Lol. Redisgned as maybe slightly smaller for more comp?

How's the quality of the NE jug? You see a bunch, so I wonder if you see an evolution in the way they're made.

Not as deep, but but the squish band isn't as wide. I didn't notice it till I cut the squish bands.

All the newer jugs on both Stihl and Husky have a better finish than they once did. Tighter casting lines, slicker finish in the ports, etc.

So if I'm reading this correctly, this isn't a reinvention of the wheel, this isn't further evidence of the EPA ruining our favourite toys and the earths axis hasn't shifted dramatically.
A few tweaks that appear well considered that make the saw lighter, a few tweaks that may make the saw run presumably better when stock and all the likelihood of a ported 60cc saw that goes toe to toe with other ported 60cc saws. About right?

The NE also has a redesigned combustion chamber.
So with the higher exhaust do we see slightly higher revving but a little less torque than the oe?
Or maybe the redesigned combustion chamber helped the higher exhaust achieve higher revs but maintain the torque?
