The new black portion above the sprocket looks like it could be easily replaceable. Maybe?

What is the function of the black and red wires that seem to be in the area of the choke?

Is this new 362 supposed to be stronger or just lighter?

German factory specs for these Type I/II saws:

Stihl 261 type I: 11.5 lb., 3.9 HP
Stihl 261 type II: 10.8 lb., 4.1 HP (likely to be listed as 4.0 HP in the US)

Stihl 362 type I: 12.8 lb., 4.7 HP
Stihl 362 type II: 12.3 lb., 4.8 HP

The dry weight was verified for the 261 type II at 10.78 lb. in another thread here on OPE.

The trouble is the good performing 10mm KS jug 044s were rated at 5.1 Hp, and they out performed the latter more anemic 440s that were rated at 5.4 Hp.

The weight of the new saws is VG news, but in the real world I don't think there will be a noticeable difference in performance. However, I am looking forward to Randy's tests.

The transfer tunnels look way different. I wonder how much the other ports and timing changed along with them.

How come it is the 'type II' and not the 'NE'?

...or the MS 363?

Type II means they screwed up the first time and this is their attempt to be as awesome as the Husky.....plain and simple they are trying to catch up

:stick::stick::stick::stick:

Obviously - but they should have included new model numbers!

Hope you feel better Randy.

If it is like the other 362s, it will take about 5 tanks of fuel before it starts to feel right.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but 12lb 6.4 oz is less than 12 & 1/2 lbs, 12.8 lbs is 12 lbs 12.8 oz.

It is very light for a 60 cc saw, but just something about aluminum bolts that I just don't like. Unless they are "special", I don't think you are supposed to re use aluminum bolts.

We will see if the "lightening" has gone too far on some points - but I don't see any signs that they reduced the bulk?

They only shaved off what 1.1 pounds? That could have come from just the clutch cover and the top handle (or at least mostly)
