I've not felt like messing with saws much Vince. I'm trying my damnedest to get two MS461s done......but I'm hurting too bad to concentrate on it.

I'm really interested to see the results of this test(get well soon,oh wise one)
I spent a bit of time this morning running a borrowed(thanks Vince) ,almost new 362 with a muffler mod(and maybe something else?)
against my dead stock 362CM.
Big timber,unexpected results. Will do some more tomorrow, just for fun.

OK......some differences between the 362C and the 362C Type II

Here the OE is on the left. Note the difference in the carb/cylinder separation partition.

They are sealing the airbox better in the NE version. Nice design tweak.

Now......the clutch cover. I'm not sure I like this modification. Looks like it will be prone to stopping up with noodles.

I think the difference in fin design is just to shave a few ounces off......

I'm gonna shelve these again for a little while. It's snowing outside.......and I want to run them stock some before tearing them down further.

The coil and flywheel are unchanged.

Dont suppose you can tell if the M-tronic system looks unchanged ? Over here ( UK) there seems to be a common complaint with inconsistent starting.
Not a dum question i hope .

The coil is the same.......but I'm not sure if the carb is.

it looks like you could put the clutch cover on either saw as long as you change the inner cove that goes over the chain break mechanism... right?

I think that is correct.

Does it feel notably lighter? A half a pound should be noticeable IMO.

I think I'm gonna be surprised if there is any real performance difference.

Randy, the stock OE MS 362 muffler is just an open can without much restriction, that being said, is there much gain to be had with just a Muffler mod on a stock saw?
I was thinking of just opening the existing opening a 1/2" or so, but not sure it would be worth it. Thoughts?

We add another deflector to the recoil side of the cover, and open the factory outlet. Even on a stock saw, this is a good idea.
