Any of you guys experiencing flooding issues?mine flooded out from the start.seems to be getting worse.took it out of my jeep a while back and couldnt pull it over since it was hydrolocked.pulled the plug and blew the gas out.
can't touch the choke on it.it wont even pop.just floods out on one pull.then have to hold the trigger wfo and pull til i turn blue in the face to get it to fire.
after it starts and clears out it runs just fine.
starting to think maybe the carb needle is set wrong at the factory or since the cylinder was full of gas when i had it in my jeep that the tank vent isnt venting or the needle is bad.
thoughts?

Try setting your low. I've had this issue on a few. Mines the worse thank god. Set your idle at 3200. Tune to the point it's at its highest rpm. Leave it there and backnit back down to 2700 rpm. Give that a try. There low is touchy.

My 5105 is touchy with the choke. I choke it when weather is cold till it ''pops'' then immediately off with the choke. Sometimes it doesn't make a very audible pop and if you don't hear it and keep choking it is very flooded. In warm weather I don't even choke it even on initial start up. Very different from any other saw I have owned.

Unless i have run my 5105 dry or stored it for a while it tends to pop the first pull on choke...sometimes second. That MPI coil is doing its thing for you so i only pull the saw over hooked in the knee ...making use of the easy start system. These saws just want to jump into life with minimal effort in standard form so no drop starts for me. I have flooded it just the once while playing about with it when first getting it.
I pulled it over a few times from cold (no choke) thinking it might help pull fuel through on impulse (no pop) and "Then" i went to cold start. Mistake !! not a pop what ever i did...soaking wet and needed the liquid fuel drained back out through the carb from the crank case and the top end blowing through before it "stumbled " complaining into life. I have also found as Mr Miller has, that the carb needs carful setting up, but this one im talking of is a 10 hr old saw and came set bang on from Dolmar. A 5105 i went through a while back showed up the need for correct set up after a full carb strip and rebuild...other thing may be worth a look see ....Metering needle not set wrong is it ?

Thank you guys.i'll try it tomorrow.
Iv sold the ps 420 (your 421) to folks the moment they go through the start procedure ..or as i put it to them.."dont try hard to start the saw" .

Yep, I'm having the same problem. I have 2 of these saws and they both act the same way. Are we sure there is nothing different about these and the Dolmar branded ones? Can someone pm me the IPL and service manual for the 5105...please?
I have done everything I can think of, had both carbs apart a couple times, can't find any metering or any needle valve problems.
The carb is a Zama DM20328A, is that the same one on the 5105?
I have done exactly how Carl described to adjust the low and it did not help.
If I start them daily there is no issue, it is when they set for 3 or 4 days it occurs.
Took the carb off today, been setting for 4 days and gas squirted 3 feet in the air from the fuel line.
I have tried starting from just a no choke dry start 1 pull, just check the plug and it's soaked, turn the saw upside down and gas is dripping out of the cylinder, got me baffled, but I'm no mechanic.

Hmm bad tank vent? Could that cause that?
