I like the look of the outer spike on that thing. I only have a small inner spike on my PS5100, but troof be told, she isn't the kind of saw to dog in and really lug. I have to have a bit of a lighter hand to keep her eating. Does the torque really step up with the port work?

I'm really surprised to hear you say that as there one of the most torquier saws out of the box. Especially a 5100 without the cat.
Now for the torque question. I run a 20" 3/8 bar on mine and from intial cuts this one just may take mine once it's broke in. It'll be close.

Could just be perspective. Usually, I'm putting down my Jred 2188, and picking up the 5100. I did run it side by side with a Stihl 261, and a Husky 550, and it does have more torque than either of those.

I run an 18", 3/8 with LGX, and it definitely eats the wood. Maybe I'm just spoiled, and want all the torques.

Never ran a stock 5105. But the ported one I have from Carl is the strongest 50cc saw I've ran. Carl builds a heck of a Dolmar work saw.

About torque..... I think the 5105's are quite torquey. I think mine is the strongest stock 50cc that I have used and I've run the 261's and 550's. They are great firewood saws. I run an 18 inch 3/8 b&c.

The 5105 is the strongest most forgiving saw I build in the 50cc class to date. That's my opinion they are also IMO the best out of the box 50cc saw ya can buy. If they would put them on a slight diet and make them the weight of a 550 or 261V2 they would do nothing but get better. And this all said I've heard threw the grape vine. The 5105 and 7910 are in the chopping block for replacement. I assume there gonna make them a strato motor. But not sure that's a bad thing. If they can keep the weight close. Just look at the 6100. That's one mean dude stock and ported as well. IMO it's a true 24" bar 60cc saw.

Yeah, please don't get me wrong. I love my 5100, and I owned the 261 and 550 only briefly - they were sold and the 5100 was what I kept. I've just never been able to really dog in and load it down like you can with a bigger saw. In my experience, it cuts faster by keeping the rpm's as high as I can.

I've been very impressed with my @Poleman ported 5100s. Mine came with no cat and the unlimited coil. It was strong stock, but incredible now as I'm sure Miller's saws are too.

I've run a 3/8" 24" bar on mine (usually a 20" 3/8) and you would be surprised how it cuts. Simply amazing for a 50cc saw.

My 20" is a Total Light and Tough bar and it really helps keep the weight down. It could almost be a one saw plan for me if I didn't like saws so much.
