I've come to realize its SOP for a 12 year old.
12 is only the start...

Hey, not to sound like the safety police, but if someone walked into your turbocharger, it would break off, right? Not tip over your cooker?
If the hair dryer triggers you you'd twitch like the hitchhiker on "Something about Mary" if you saw my rig.

21° driving in this morning, headed to 40°. Couldn't ask for much better conditions than what we have in southern MI right now.

I still need to come see this operation and get more syrup from you.

Give me a couple weeks to get a couple batches made and bottled up so you can stock up. See if you can bring Rusty along too. Be fun to hang out. I got a bunch of logs out there, we could fire up some saws.

Famous last words...

Turbocharger... LOL :jaja-no:

On a serious note - one of my neighbors was trying to clear a blocked pre-heater line on Saturday (3/8" copper wrapped around the stack), and decided to blow UP the pipe to clear it. It blew back into his mouth with superheated sap, and burned his mouth and throat really bad. He was being watched out for, because he only ended up with a couple second degree burns in his mouth and throat. It could have been a LOT worse.

Be careful guys. Syrup or boiling sap is HOT, and you don't want it on you.

Do you sell and ship your syrup?

Did I already ask you? I asked somebody and can't remember who...

Couple of pictures from this afternoon. Beautiful day to be cooking for the first time. Burned through about 600 gallons of sap and about 60% of a cord of wood.
Sweetened the pans and even got to draw off a cream can of light syrup. I like dark syrup most of the time, but over vanilla ice cream, while it's still warm, this wasn't terrible. Actually, it's pretty good just sipped from the bottle...

Definitely wish i lived closer...

you’ve driven to Scott’s this might actually be closer. If you can talk grumpy into a gtg maybe I can come down and bring you syrup. I know grumpy would like to have one but it’s all the repairs he has to make after you have been there breaking things

What all kind of trees can you make syrup from? Obviously maple but I saw black walnut mentioned earlier.

Is is possible to make syrup in Ga? Or do we just not have the trees?

I don’t know of anyone making it around the Warner Robins/mid-Ga area...may be a different story up in north Ga.

His grumpy meter is off the charts lately. Any talk of having a GTG gets shut down. I can't wait to make it back to his place and break some more stuff, LOL.

Do you really need a gtg to go to his place and break stuff?

Box Elder, aka the Manitoba maple. Birch syrup can be made as well, however the sugar content of the sap is much lower than maple.

Basswood, hickory, and sycamore as well. Sycamore has a butterscotch flavor.
