Who's running sap around here. I started to boil on my very thrown together half assed setup yesterday. It's slow, but makes me a couple gallon or so a year. I tapped 50% more trees this year, but only because I'm sharing my sap with a buddy that produces huge amounts of honey and decided to dive in head first into the syrup this year! He gifted me a nice baffled stainless storage tank for my efforts.

I currently have 95 taps out, I'm not sure if I will do more or not. It has just started running here and it's been pretty slow so far but it should start to pick up!

I run mainly pvc holders and bags

My woods gets tapped by a local commercial producer, all buckets, no tubing or pipeline. I’ll help out gathering, lots of work but fun! If the entire woods is tapped it’s close to 1,500 taps. Nothing tapped yet but guessing it will be soon. The sweet taste of spring!

I'm taking this year off, but living vicariously through my neighbors. Glad to watch this time around, too much to do in our rentals this year.

Here's a pic from my second boil20210301_194010.jpg
Couple pics of my diy redneck evaporator. I've got real close to $400 into it.

I have 57 taps this year so far. May add a dozen taps on my black walnut trees. Today's boil will put me real close to 3 gallons of syrup so far.

Looks similar to my first operation.
I'm pretty happy with it. There's a hipster outfit out of Vermont that sells pretty much the same thing for 3 times as much monies. I'm getting a pretty consistent 7gph out of it. Although I may peddle it and upgrade for next season. I'd like to maybe add more taps.

Thanks for starting this thread. I was just thinking of doing the same. Nice early start to our season in Wisconsin. Hopefully we get six weeks of sap! Though my wife would prefer being done by April first. I just got back from Northern Tool and Cabelas. My little two stroke transfer pump wouldn't start, so I had to make run out for a new one. I've been wanting to switch to a Honda anyway, that two stroke was god-awfully loud. Scored some new mud boots at Cabelas, picked up some Indian food takeout, and made it home before my tank started running over. I'll call that a win! Just finished pumping a couple hundred gallons of sap up to the shack. Planning on firing up the cooker tomorrow afternoon. 20210304_191334.jpg

Hey, not to sound like the safety police, but if someone walked into your turbocharger, it would break off, right? Not tip over your cooker?

Yeah that's what the rubber coupler and pvc at the end are for.

I still need to come see this operation and get more syrup from you.
