How do you know that this is a double magnet and not just a counterbalance ?

Why would anyone manufacture a flywheel for the 046/460 and add an additional magnet ?

Also, the polarity of the second magnet on mtronic saws is opposite that of the first, that’s how Stihl powers the mtronics

362 and 261 non mtronic both look like two magnet flywheels, but only one is actually a magnet. Like you say....the other is just a counterweight.

I'm late to the party but. . . I have some 362 mtronic parts Ignition Coil, FlyWheel and somewhere a carb. I'm willing to donate. May take until the next rainy day to find them all. Unless someone knows for sure they won't work.

Guess I'll settle for a small orange screwdriver in the pocket & tune by ear. I drive a manual transmission, too.

I hear ya on that. At the same time, I appreciate my automatic. Especially in the AM when I've got a coffee with me. I've decided to convert my 1ton dump to a ZF6. I still love shifting and that truck needs a stick. I live in the hills.

I love tuning a saw and having that control of it. At the same time I've got a 261c and a 201tc. There awesome. Especially not having to tune them when your busy getting the job done. Got my 261c back from repairs. New carb, lines and flushed. Got a little water in the gas somewhere? Not sure. Upgraded my gas can to help keep water out if it gets caught in the rain. I'm thinking I want to port this one and warm it up a little. Muffler mod at the least. It screams with a 20" Sugi and Oregon factory chisel. West coast 3pt dawgs and it'll be my dedicated saw to ride the ball with. Buy another stocker for the ground.

So this thread, is interesting to me. I use my Stihls for my work saws. Well, most of em. I've got a 461 here I wouldn't mind a conversion on. I don't have to worry about some one wrecking a saw of mine on a hot day.

Maybe the best reason for autotune is to keep crews from wrecking company saws by lean tuning a manual carb. BTW, are you one of those guys who rides a crane ball up into the crown for a living?

Yes :D
I did take a break from it and recently getting back into it. That's the reason for the 20" Sugi.
I still climb too. About 25 yrs now working in trees.
