Not a rehab but a survivor. 028 salvaged from a fire. I just cleaned it up some, nothing else. Bungee it to tractor and skid steer and not worried about banging around. View attachment 60396View attachment 60397 Runs strong.

Paint on bar blistered but is straight and sproket turns smooth as new after clean ash out of it. Those 028s are bullet proof. Much nicer is 028 Super bought new 20 plus years ago. 20140712_162533.jpg

I got this 562XP sent to me to do an evaluation on... It had a bad PTO bearing, and a bad clutch drum bearing.
Cost? $40.00 in parts.

I like the way you trimmed the top cover and punched some heat exit holes - did it have any carb issues before you did that, or was that just a preventative measure?

I took an 8 hour road trip to buy this for $60. It had a roasted piston. I think I got the nos piston and rings for about $90... a set of nos crank seals and a carb kit later and it's ready to cut. 20170129_125700.jpg 20170129_125554.jpg

I suppose there's no reason to not put a video of it with the pics. Here it is giving some 1/2 pitch chain a go.

It did have "The Bog". I had to do some creative carb work to cure it. So......I'm saying the trim and holes are preventive.

I used an EL-44 with the EL-46 electronics.

Guy said I could have it for free, I wasn't looking for gifts, so I handed him a $50

DSCN7772.JPG

Paid $50 for this one also (same day different place) Missing the handle, and clutch cover, and a few screws. Otherwise it's all there.

Paid a little more for this one, but it was still reasonable....they all even out.

Stihl 036 Pro from the same Toro rep. Had parts saw in marker on the cracked air cleaner cover. It needed a piston and seals. It got fuel and impulse lines and new filters along with a air cleaner cover and new Pro sticker.

I put 200 in a ugly 272 xp. Added felling spikes and recoil dogs. Runs damn good. Prolly got two city in it as is. Also new chain brake. Used it on a big oak. Likely paid for itself plus a little. Not the huge scores you fellas posted but I'm ok with it. She's still ugly. But it runs an oils good. Had to dick with oiler more than once. All in. I'm good with that

This is about the only saw i could have brought to the party.....1994 , 242 xp that had no pull start or top cover a duff piston and transfer on the bore . The first saw i did the emery and scotch-bright clean up on...golf piston (windowed ) and caber ring plus the old covers i had back from other saws i put good ones on for sale. Solid rather than a sparkler.
It was cheep and advertised as a "Husky 15 " saw, for parts "...I wish there were more about !
