Well I shipped two saws that I sold and the box showed up or what was left of it anyway but no saws. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone and what to do next? I'm getting a form to fill out and my postmaster is checking at a lost mail facility in Atlanta. And no I didn't buy the insurance in my opinion a guy shouldn't need it!

Good luck. Usps is mad at me I think. I sent a package out Feb 17 and it's my fault that it hasn't got to the customer yet because I didn't use Priority! Or so they tell me! FedEx account in the works! :machinegun:

Over there
I sent a Total Super bar to Sunfish in Missouri from Michigan and it took 2 weeks to get there. I mistakingly sent it parcel post and not priority. It went to Pennsylvania first and sat there for a week before it moved again. I was gonna refund his money or order a new bar and have it sent to him but he wanted to wait it out and he finally got it.

If Nate (fordf150) sends me something priority 2 day to Michigan from Ohio it usually takes about 4 days even for 2 day priority.

Oh boy. Atlanta. Where have we heard this before? The box making it is a new one.

There was a certain 395xp that disappeared at that facility. Some fella bought it from USPS at a lost items auction, and then he himself put it up for sale. Was on AS a few years back. Don't remember all the details.

I sent Moparmyway a foredome setup and it arrived with a hole in the box and the foredome handpiece missing.
I filed a claim but have not heard anything. I'm still angry about it.

When I shipped my 034/036 to Drf255 , I rushed to ship it out on a Monday morning from USPS, paid extra for delivery by Weds and insurance for $350. I think I spent $45 for their service. A big snow storm was coming that weekend so I thought I'd be safe. Weds, Thurs , Fri and the saw isn't moving according to tracking. Storm comes and the tracking page says something to the effect, "mailbox is blocked no delivery will return to sender..... " Al said there was like 20" of snow and they had not even attempted delivery. Finally arrived there after a week

The Worst and most frustrating part is that you have no recourse and no one to complain to. Sure you can yell at the person on the phone but it will not have any effect. I'll use Fedex next time

I haven't lost saws sending them because I haven't sent any. However I have received a lot of saws that were on the verge of being lost because the shipper thought a couple of pieces of cardboard was enough packing material. Based on that, I would guess the majority of saws being lost are due to poor packing. I'm not saying you are in that category because you have not described how you packed it. Just saying there are a lot of moron shippers out there who must think their boxes are hand carried from their PO to the destination PO.

The USPS motto seems to be: "We don't care because we don't have to."

I've bought several saws from members, thank God no problems, knock on wood. I just got a MS261 CM today. Was sent regular parcel post, I told the shipper to do it to save him a little jingle, it arrived today from Pa. Took 4 days. They probably got some sorta crackhead ring running the show at that Atlanta hub...wouldn't surprise me one bit. I know the OP feels like a turd in a punch bowl, but certainly a lesson learned concerning ever shipping anything uninsured again. Hate like hell to read stuff like this.

I've got one more saw to be shipped to me...gonna get up with the guy this evening, get him to ship UPS or FedEx.

I've shipped at least 50 saws and a crap ton of parts with usps. I almost always use parcel select, used to be parcel post, for saws and priority for parts. Never lost anything. When I pack a saw, it's safe in that box. You could almost throw it down the stairs and not hurt it. I did have a package or two take a strange route , but I've never lost one.

Through UPS I did lose one package and have one totally destroyed. I don't use fedex for no real reason but inconvenience.

If something punched through the box, it needed to be packed differently.

My opinion and experience....

I hope yours works out well in the end. Sucks to deal with this kind of stuff.

I sent a saw to NJ from my place through USPS and it never got there.
Geee how do you loose a saw. Sent a 4 speed shifter assembly to MD
priority mail and it took three weeks. I had a snowmobile clutch sent
back to me from utah. It was sent mid Jan. I got it end of april. USPS
is the absolute worst. try filing a claim with them. You will never see
a dime. Our wonderful government at it's best.
Been shipping with Fedex for a few years now with no issues.

quit using USPS for shipping long ago. The story about the lost husky on AS cured me for good.
I use UPS and thus far all is well.

back in my now defunct motorcycle parts business ups only killed one shipment of laverda parts for me.usps killed and lost most of a cagiva shipment from Australia.customs was mostly to blame for that.they only put one piece of their fancy "inspection" tape across the end of the box containing forks and shocks.in all i was out close to $4000 on both shipments and never recieved any insurance money even after inspection of damage and going over the inventory list.:BangHead:
