Do I have to worry about purging air from the system if I take that connector off the cylinder, or will the air work itself out of the system by cycling the cylinder?

It’ll work itself out in a few cycles. You might not notice anything. You shouldn’t lose that much fluid. I always clean everything good before disconnecting anything so whatever fluid you catch can go right back in. I have a big plastic funnel with a fine screen for refills.

The saga continues. The rugged split wouldn’t run the cylinder in and out smoothly. I figured I’d change the filter on out comes somewhere between 5 and 7 gallons of fluid due to the check valve in the filter mount breaking loose. The fluid was the color of heating oil. Drained hoses, replaced all the plastic fittings from the pump to tank, new fluid, new filter base. This morning I used and old bed frame and some scrap angle to bolt the old log table back together. They aren’t built well from new. I’m going to build a new one from scratch but this will get me through the last of the big wood laying around.
