Do I have to worry about purging air from the system if I take that connector off the cylinder, or will the air work itself out of the system by cycling the cylinder?

It’ll work itself out in a few cycles. You might not notice anything. You shouldn’t lose that much fluid. I always clean everything good before disconnecting anything so whatever fluid you catch can go right back in. I have a big plastic funnel with a fine screen for refills.

Now they are done. The rugged split filter housing was barely hand tight where it went into the tank. Easy leak to fix.
