So I bought an "after market " air filter from saw again for my 460 and it comes with a little foam insert. https://sawagain.com/products/stihl...-660-ms-780-ms-880-air-filter-00001201654-new
Am I supposed to remove anything to use that air filter? Or am I not suppose to install it with that foam insert?
It does fit on with the foam insert but I just wanted to make sure I'm using it right because I cannot find any info on this from YouTube, saw again, or any other sites.

If my memory is correct, I think it's there more to absorb any spitback. If it fits and you want to leave it, leave it. I know I have one like that on one of my saws.

As Ed says you can choose to leave it in or take it out.

I think I tried both ways with that AF on my 044. I believe it ran slightly better without (slight carb adjustment needed) but the spit back made the filter wet . So I opted to use the foam so I didn’t get saw dust sticking to a wet patch on the AF

What Ed said^.

To add to it, if you already have the plastic spit guard in place, you don’t need it. But it’s so open that it won’t hurt anything.
