Kawasaki FX730V in 2020 Hustler Fastrak SDX

I know that Kawasaki recommends their 49065-7007 oil filter for this engine but wanted to ask if anyone has used other high quality filters on this unit and their results.

I have a 2014 hustler with a Kawasaki engine. I have always used the Kawasaki filter and oil. I'm sure there are as good or better alternatives, but I feel better using what they recommend.

Seems so, there are Kawasaki engines in many mowers these days and some times it takes a while till we get a reply or comments.

Actually the 49065-7007 has been superseded to 49065-0721. Here I use Sunbelt OF285 oil filters as the after market replacement filter.

You can cross these over to "auto" filters - as long as the specs are the same, they will work. I have a Fastrak SDX and run a Fram Ultra on it (that's the full synthetic filter). Before I found a great deal on a case of them, I used to run the Wix or Napa Gold filters (1394 or 51394). I also have a Deere with a Kaw engine and run the same filter, even though it's larger than what came on it. You can get them for much better prices than the OEM Kaws and I can almost guarantee they will be a better filter. BTW, they are the same filter used on some Toyotas.
