I have three parts saws in the attic that Chris Lehman brought during the open house in March. I will see what shape they are in, if I can use a piston and cylinder from one of those I will. I will let you know what I discover.

Thanks Jay for all of your continued assistance.

Here is an 80 that I picked up at the PNW GTG last month from Marshal Trover.

Judging from the photos on Mike Acres site, I think the muffler is wrong for the 80.

I have this one torn down far enough to give it a very thorough cleaning.

I have never seen a clutch so badly worn, the shoes are so thin that it actually has worn through into the spring groove in one place, one broke when I tried to use the Jonsereds clutch stop tool to loosen the nut, and you can see another is cracked.

People hold WOT regardless of whether the chain is spinning or not 😉👍 Sometimes it also holds the brake 😉

Mark I believe that muffler was usually termed a "West Coast" muffler perhaps supplied along with the full wrap or as a stand alone option to the standard muffler with the square exhaust. I've never seen one dealer fitted to an east coast saw but have several of those mufflers that all came from the PNW. They are very open compared to the standard.

Wow!! I have never seen a Jonsereds clutch that worn out!! Wonder how many drums it's been through ??

My 80 has a square outlet like the 721 ect had if I ever get around to doing anything with it. The 1010 pro mac is a pretty torque laiden saw for the size of it, runs very nicely.
Still will be searching out a 700/750 or other large mac just because I want one later.

Apparently some 80's came with that muffler. There's 2 pics of 80's with that style muffler on Magnus' site.

I was able to get the 80 reassembled today, starts, idles, run, and oils as it should. While reassembling I realized I didn't have the clutch bearing and spacer...as I thought about it I don't remember seeing it when I took the saw apart and it seems unlikely that I could have lost them overnight. Turned out no problem as I still had one set left in a box in the attic, most likely from a 621. The three shoe clutch worked and I was able to repurpose a 24" 196 mount bar just to have something to finish it off for now.

I expect it is unlikely Jay, but I would like to try and find the two hand guards (top mount and rear handle) to finish this one off.

I looked at some You Tube videos and saw that Mike Jensen (Saw Hoarder) had a similar muffler on an 80 that he had.

As tempting as it is to take this one out and put it in some wood, I think I will just find a spot for it in the display.

On to the next project, 451E. Does anyone have, or know where I might find a piston (PN 504 41 00 04)?

I think the cylinder would be O.K. but the piston is beyond hope.

My other option is just put it back together and add it to the display, which is my intent in any case.
