I wonder if the thinking is to use Redmax for the box store sales with consumer grade goods and pull any and all Husky out and have them as the higher end stuff only at dealers ?

It would be much too hard to set up dealers selling Redmax , I think it would have to be for big box only otherwise it's sure to fail .

Being made in the same place MAYBE, Makita took over Dolmar and now several of their models are made in China!

That is disappointing, hopefully only going to apply to the entry level/ homeowner models, but who knows...
The way I see it, pure profit drive off the CEO's!
Over time, most likely sooner than later, all "Makita" chainsaw models will come out of China.
Now that they, Makita, have established the needed manufacturing facilities in China they won't stop at just the homeowner saw models!
In time there will only be a office floor with a call center in Germany - if even that.

Unless my current livelyhood changes I believe I own enough chainsaws to last me a lifetime.
But having only ever been introduced to and ran stricktly (Sachs-)Dolmar it saddens me to see the name getting pushed out of the picture. :(

Look at Solo chainsaws, they all say "Solo by AL-KO" nowadays.
Really, "by AL-KO"?
I didn't even heard of AL-KO other than in correlation to Solo chainsaws.
Sad thing!

In my area Jonsered is present, known to be a good reliable saw for an affordable price.
And I am not talking just homeowner saw models, 60 & 70 cc models can be seen around.
Jonsered is possibly more prominent than Dolmar ever was.
"Red Max" You say?
WTF is a "Red Max"?
No such thing in my area!

Rant over, sorry . . .

Don't think you would see Redmax brand in tractor supply. Most stores complained when they switched to jred from husq.

I heard from a source 22 months ago that this would happen. That same source said that tractor supply would source there own chainsaw brand.

Stihl has had facilities in China for 22 years. All of the major OPE brands source parts and units from China- it's the new reality.
I am glad you said that, every time I do creates panic in the streets.
The truth hurts, matter of fact last time I said it is about the time I heard Makita was manufacturing some there...
Turn about is fair play...
