Jonsered 670 champ intake leak

Why it’s leaking isn’t obvious to me, but this is the first one I’ve messed with. @afleetcommand @Spike60 seems like I saw in one of your videos these boots are NLA? Time for @huskihl 272 top end?

No.

I think the boot is just shrunk and not sealing to the carb.

***New what appears to be OEM one ordered from chainsawr.

Not saying it’s not leaking, but of all the red and orange saws on this case, this intake block is the least troublesome.

Make sure it’s not worn through on the bottom and make sure there’s a wire or clamp on the cylinder side

It looked to me like the spray got sucked in from behind the boot on the cylinder side.

Brass inserts might be pulled a little bit. Could remove the rubber and file them a little shorter so the carb tightens better to the boot. If that’s it

Yes, first drop on carb flange did nothing, also you can see where marks were left from the original wire type clamp that is missing.

Also replacing a 670 top end for a 272 isn't worth it in my opinion/experience.

Proline makes them 12.95 plus ship

I use motoseal on all those contact surfaces.
And make sure the brass inserts aren't proud.

It has the heavy duty flat steel clamp with screw closure.

I ran Kevin’s ported champ at the gtg. I’m sure a kevined 272 would whomp on a 670. But I would not want to give up the jred high idle for the husky high idle.
I bet @huskihl is right and the brass is pulled or the rubber is shrunk or both.
I will investigate further.

I do have a boot coming from chainsawr. Should have ‘vestigated more first maybe.
