I believe it’s a direct swap. Although I fail to see why the loss of finish on the connecting rod warrants a crank change. What am I missing?Pulled down my low hour 2071 and found this.

Does the later model 372 crank swap in or do I need to change the PTO side case half as well?
Is it supposed to narrow like that? It starts narrowing where the finish is missing. I have never seen a crank like that but i have not seen a lot of cranks either.I believe it’s a direct swap. Yes sirIs it supposed to narrow like that?
Well that is good news. There was quite a bit of carbon/sooty build up in the cases, on the piston and in the combustion chamber. When I bought this saw the piston was very clean and I have only run max ten tanks of very clean burning fuel through it. Should i give it a polish and let it ride then?Yes sir
I would, nothing wrong with that con rod at all. I just had my 372 apart not long ago but don’t have any pics of the con rod. I know it looked exactly like yoursWell that is good news. No problem...happy cuttingGreat, thanks for the help!
Oh really...What's the gain with using a 268 piston?? Lighter?? Never seen that trick before
More compression, more intake timing, lighter piston and you can use a stock gasket.Oh really...What's the gain with using a 268 piston?? Lighter?? Never seen that trick before
