Have a new piston kit coming, its a real 024 so no upgrade for it.
Gotta look for on 1/8-1/4inch piece of ring,,,,so far no luck.

Bearing are fine no metal in there, will flush it anyways.Check in the muffler. Bearings feel good?
The bottom of the intake port (closest to the crank) and the top of the exhaust (closest to spark plug) are the most critical sides as those control opening timing. As Chris said, it'll run a long time like that.
I don't think I've ever heard of a Golf piston lasting 10 years before, so you done good the first time.
I think the original had a two rings, I have never seen a single ring stihl.Smooth it out and run it. Did the original piston have one ring? I had one 024 open port that had a one ring piston.
